Brandy L. Macon - Co-Founder (Chief Financial Officer, Vice President)

After high school there was no question in my mind whether or not I was going to attend college, the question was how was I going to pay for college.  I attended a 2 year college and struggled with the idea of all my friends going off to college getting “freedom“ and having to stay at home to attend school.  In order to cut costs I stayed home, I worked and paid my tuition costs.  After graduating from community college I transferred to a university and my job did not cut it, there I struggled to pay for tuition, books and rent.  I always had a place in my heart to give back to graduating seniors to help with the financial burden of college and to show support. 

BLM² goal is to invest in our youth in the hopes of one day they will do the same.  Creating a cycle of giving back to our communities so that the next person does not have to face the same struggles.

Growing up in the inner city I often faced the same struggles of other young males, but going to college was always a goal of mine.  As a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, IL., I was faced with many challenges including transportation, academics and most important financial burden.  I often wondered how I was going to pay for additional books and tuition. 

Sitting at home I made a vow, if I was ever in a situation where I can provide college students with financial assistance I was going to do it.  From that point forward the concept of BLM² Scholarship Foundation was born.  I truly believe in Deuteronomy 16:17 “Every man shall give as he is able, according to the Lord your God which He has given you“.  This concept speaks volumes as to how we are called to help and support our fellow brother/sister as God gives and provides for us.
